The Orta Tango Encuentro returns to Lake Orta for an evening celebrating the timeless allure of tango in the enchanting setting of Piazza Motta. On Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, the heart of Orta San Giulio will transform into an open-air dance floor, where music and movement blend with the colors of the sunset against the breathtaking backdrop of San Giulio Island.
Now in its ninth edition, organized by the Tango Social Club with the support of the Municipality of Orta San Giulio, the gathering brings together dancers, tango enthusiasts, and visitors in one of the lake’s most picturesque squares. Admission is free, and around 100 seats will be available for spectators.
A unique opportunity to experience the passion of Argentine tango while discovering the magic of one of Piedmont’s most captivating villages.
Piazza Motta lies at the heart of Orta San Giulio’s historic center, overlooking the tranquil waters of Lake Orta. Reaching the square is part of the charm: wander through the village’s cobbled streets and you’ll pass elegant historic buildings, picturesque corners, and inviting cafés, all steeped in the timeless atmosphere of an Italian lakeside village.
If you’re arriving by car, parking is available at the entrance to the village. From there, it’s a pleasant stroll through the traffic-free historic center to the square.
Travelling by train? Orta-Miasino railway station is about 2 km from the center. You can either take a local bus or enjoy a scenic walk that leads through the village to the lakeside.
